Ishkashim Market about to depart Afghanistan. Saying Yes More gets you places.

Hi, My name is Jon Beardmore and I’m a New Zealand born Kiwi/Brit whose been living in London for the last 15 years. In between various project management roles I’ve indulged my passion for travel and adventure, visiting over 60 countries. I’m happiest when spreading my own version of Kiwi fun and adventure around the world, while meeting new people, visiting new places, and enjoying new experiences and customs.

I love trip planning just as much as the trip itself. It allows my imagination to run wild with ideas of cool things to do. Especially if it means trying new adrenaline based activities and sports, exploring areas of natural beauty, or visiting the great cities of the world. I’m also bit of a foodie, so I love trying local delicacies and beverages from around the world.

I’ll try pretty much anything once. If you don’t believe me check out my Yes Man Challenge and put me to the test.

On my last big adventure round the world to South America in 2010/11, I produced my first blog of the trip. I had such a great time recording and sharing the blog, that (when I promised myself to maintain adventure in my life) I decided to continue blogging. Check out my blog here: Big O en Sur America.

My Escape Story

Follow the link to learn more about my escape story and what I’ve learnt in the last couple of years. My Escape Story.

Why the name Big O?

Many people ask why I’m called the Big O. It’s based on an old university nickname of Oosil, which came from a character in the science ficton book Dune (by Frank Herbert). I’m a bit of a sci-fi geek and I love the book. As I’m 6’4 in height, it didn’t take much for Oosil to develop into the Big O over time.

Royal Geographical Society

I am also a Fellow of the Royal Geographical Society (FRGS) based in London. It is an amazing society that provides access to fantastic resources, amazing staff and incredibly adventurous people. For more information check out the link here.
